In the forthcoming film of filmmaker Shoojit Sircar, Vicky has been offered the role of freedom fighter Udham Singh. This film is a biopic of revolutionary Udham Singh, who killed former British Punjab Lieutenant Governor, Michael O’Dwyer, in 1940 to take revenge of the 1919 Jalianwala Bagh massacre.
Vickey who had the desire to work with Piku director since his carrier took a rocket turn while commenting on being an important part of the film said, “It’s a surreal feeling because it’s like a dream come true as I am finally getting to work with him. I have always been a big admirer of how Shoojit sir looks at his stories. The way he is looking at the character (Udham Singh) and the world is extraordinary as well as beautiful. Honestly, that’s something that will take time to sink in.”
The director on being casting Vicky in his film said, “If you look at Vicky’s track record, he is taking brave steps and making some really fabulous choices. I wanted an actor who is ready to give his heart and soul to the film. Plus, he is a Punjabi boy and my film is a story of a Punjabi man. So, in many ways, he turned to be the obvious choice.”
The shooting of the film will start next month and will have its release next year.
After delivering phenomenal performances in ‘Sanju’ and ‘Raazi, Vicky Kaushal had a kick-start 2019 with ‘high josh’, as his last film ‘URI’ marked wonders at the box office.
The Aditya Dhar directorial surpassed all expectations and crossed Rs 150 crores at the box office.
On the work front, Vicky will next be seen in Karan Johar’s magnum opus ‘Takht’ alongside Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor.
