Turkey Earthquake Updates: A destructive Magnitude 7.8 earthquake just struck southern Turkey. The epicenter of the earthquake was very close to Gaziantep which has caused extensive damage with reports of multiple people trapped in collapsed buildings. The building has shivered and the destruction has taken hundreds of lives within seconds after the destruction.
The epicenter region is home to millions of refugees and IDPs, many of whom live in tents & makeshift structures. Above that, the cold weather would make it even worse to withstand the Turkey earthquake.

Turkey Felt a Series of Shockwaves
At least 18 aftershocks with a magnitude of up to 5.7 were recorded after the second. Seismologists have suspected that the country will shiver with the series of shockwaves for a month.
Considering the impacts of the earthquake Turkey has now declared a fourth level alert state. The “level 4” alarm condition includes an international call for help. Now Turkey has pled the other countries across the world to raise helping hands.

An Atmospheric scientist shared update on the Turkey earthquake saying “about 15 million people experienced “strong,” “very strong” or “severe” shaking on the Modified Mercalli Intensity scale.”
