In recent years, the South Indian industry has made major advances, and this was once again in evidence in 2022 when Allu Arjun's Pushpa, SS Rajamouli's RRR, Yash's KGF 2 and Superstar Kamal Haasan's Vikram proved to be major successes, not just in the South Indian region but across the world.

The South Indian industry significantly outstripped Bollywood, with four films grossing 400 crores (RRR, KGF-2, Vikram, and Ponniyin Selvan: Part One) compared to just one for Bollywood.

Many highly anticipated South Indian films set for 2023

1. Pushpa The Rule (Pushpa 2)

Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arju and Rashmika Mandanna and directed by Sukumar, is slated to be released between July and September 2023.

Pushpa: The Rise was an absolute sensation among audiences, breaking box office records across both the South and North.

People were won over by Pushpa's dialogues, songs and Allu Arjun's swagger, and now the sequel is set to be released in 2023 - making it one of the most anticipated films of the year.

Director-writer Sukumar is filled with excitement as the release of Pushpa's sequel approaches.

Rajinikanth and Mohanlal will be featured in the movie directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, which is set to be released on April 14.

The highly anticipated movie Jailer, starring superstar Rajinikanth and Mohanlal, is set to be released in 2023.

The movie "Nani and Keerthy Suresh" will be released on March 30, 2023 and is directed by Srikanth Odhela.
