Lok Sabha elections are ringing the bell at the door and the magic of politics has started already brimming the local markets of India.
A few days after Sarees featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi flooded the shops, Modi jackets and Rahul jackets have become a new trend among the people now.
It’s like when Fashion meets Politics, these Bandhgala jackets with the face of PM Narendra Modi or Rahul Gandhi, have become the latest rage in the market of Jabalpur of Madhya Pradesh.
Before the upcoming elections 2019, jackets have become more than just garment. Among the local people of Jabalpur, these are seen as a political statement.
Saral Jain, a local resident who loves Modi jacket said, “We saw that PM Modi has illuminated the country’s name throughout the world. We are wearing this jacket because we also want to cooperate with the Prime Minister.”
Meanwhile, Sharad Chandra Upadhyay, who show off Rahul Gandhi printed jacket said, “Rahul represents the young leadership of India and this jacket has his face on it. That is why I am wearing it. Congress lives in my heart.”
Not the first time when the colors of Indian politics have reached the doors of the textile and fashion industry.
At the beginning of this month, in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, known as the Textile Hub of India, women as a gesture of extending the support to Indian Army, draped air strike themed sarees, depicting the strikes on terror launch pads in Balakot, Pakistan.
These unique sarees features the face of Prime Minister Modi along with a group of armed Indian Army Personnel, while in other parts of the dress there were marks of fighter jets.
Similarly, after being captured during the dogfight on February 27, IAF pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who spent nearly 60 hours in Pakistan, returned to India, his stylish mustache became the new craze amongst the men across India.
Election in India is not the only process of making a decision where people come together to choose their government, but it is like a festival which celebrates the spirit of democracy in the country. And this festival doesn’t know any limit. It becomes more creative with every passing day.
