New Delhi: The Delhi government is taking a new step to ensure that people strictly follow the orders of isolation. The CM Arvind Kejriwal announced his new strategy in a press conference on Wednesday. The authorities are going to track the mobile phones of those under home quarantine. This is to keep their movement under strict check during the quarantine period.
This step of the authorities also comes with a warning for those under home quarantine. If someone disobeys the orders of government, then strict action will be taken against it, he added while addressing the conference.
On Wednesday, The Delhi Police have got 14,345 phone numbers besides 11, 084 phone numbers, which they have got a day before it. The government shares these numbers with the Delhi Police.
Countries like Singapore, China, and even European countries are already using the tracking method to control the situation. This is not considered as the violation of an individual’s privacy, The UK’s Data and Privacy Authority said last week.
None of the ways are effective to ensure that people are following the orders of self-isolation strictly. So, the mobile tracking method is supposed to be an effective measure.
Till now, there are no community transmission cases of covid-19 in Delhi, he said. As all the 120 positive cases were either due to the foreign tours or the local transmission.
Twenty-four cases came from the Nizamuddin Markaz, were a religious gathering took place since march before lockdown. More than 2000 people gathered who came from different parts of the world. Around 2,346 people are evacuated from the area after a struggle by the Delhi Police. 536 out of them are sent to the hospital.
There are 766 people with symptoms of coronavirus and all of them are sent to different hospitals in the city.
Besides it, the Kejriwal government will give ration to those who have already applied for the ration card but did not get the card.
Further, in the conference, Kejriwal asks the center for more test kits and medical equipment.
