Kangana Ranaut aced the young Jayalalithaa’s role and portrayed her innocence without overdoing it. She did not try to mimic her but did exactly what she is known for. Her body language even reflected Jaya. On the other hand, Arvind Swamy did his part well as MGR.

The real struggle of Jaya begins in the second half of the movie which is supported with powerful lines like “ Mahabharata Ka Dusra Naam Hai Jaya.” Kangana Ranaut delivered all brilliantly along with fierce emotions. She was not too loud or feeble during the second half.

Filmmakers showed how Jaya rose to power after the 1989 incident that changed her future. She promised to make a great comeback to the assembly but this time as a CM. Kangana managed to evolve as Amma from innocent Jayalalithaa.

Her political acumen, growth, and personality; all are beautifully presented on the big screen. All the schemes and works done by Jaya were also shown but in brief. Overall, Thalaivi is a good-to-watch movie for those who have never seen Amma in action.

The script was written by Rajat Arora and Vijayendra Prasad. Thalaivi is released in three different languages, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, to cover a wide audience.
