A recent drug trafficking case busted by Madhya Pradesh Police has highlighted E-commerce giant Amazon. The reason will surprise you as the main accused were selling around 20 kg of weed online. They were using the virtual platform to bypass the police however the police have arrested all the three involved but it has put Amazon under the soup.

The Confederation of All India Traders has demanded a strict investigation and action against Amazon. It says, the website has performed the role of the seller in the entire matter and has also received 66 percent commission for the transaction amounting to Rs 1 crore.
Following which the Association has also reprimanded Amazon for not using technologies for identifying the sale of illegal products. And when the platform performs all necessary actions before allowing any seller to do business, such incidents are very shocking for everyone.
The company is only an intermediary between the trader and buyer and so enjoys safe harbor provisions as per IT Act. But, in this case, it cannot be said as an intermediary as the product was termed an illegal product.

Police Identifies An Ahmedabad-based Trader For Selling Marijuana On Amazon
Two of the accused arrested in the case are from Bhind district, MP whereas the third belongs from Haridwar. Manoj Kumar Singh, who is the police chief of Bhind, said they have identified the involvement of an Ahmedabad-based company in an entire matter which was using Amazon for selling marijuana. The company was displaying drugs as stevia dry leaves.
