Back in 2016, Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt appeared for an interview with HuffPost. At that time, she was dating Bollywood actor Siddharth Malhotra, but both of them never confirmed it.

So, during the interview, when she was asked why Bollywood actresses keep their love life confidential, Alia explained it by taking the example of Taylor Swift.

She said, “In India, you are part of a society that’s very judgemental. Here, girls having multiple boyfriends is still a huge-ass deal and something that is frowned upon.”

Alia continued by giving the example of Taylor Swift, “I mean, look at Taylor Swift. She’s dated, like, everybody. But if she was here, she’d be totally shamed for making those choices.”

“Her image and appeal would be very different. The reason actresses don’t talk about their private lives is because in our society there is a lot of slut-shaming. Eventually, I have a responsibility and I have to protect myself.”

As soon as this interview went viral on the internet, Taylor Swift fans started trolling Alia Bhatt. One user said, “She, herself, is shaming Miss Swift. Girl, g y your facts right, she didn’t date everyone and all at once.”

Another user said, “The irony of her own statements is lost on Alia.” The third user said, “Taylor hasn’t dated EVERYBODY. Lol, she just shamed Taylor and then spoke for sl*t shaming.”

Apart from them, some people also spoke for Alia Bhatt. One said, “Her point is, if a guy does it he’s a playboy and when a woman does it she’s labelled a sl*t. that’s it. Is it so hard to understand?”
