Tarek Fatah, passed away at the age of 73 following an extended period of illness.

Tarek Fatah, a renowned columnist and author from Pakistan who resided in Canada, has passed away at the age of 73 following a prolonged struggle with cancer. His daughter, Natasha Fatah, confirmed the news.

In a tweet, Natasha described Tarek as the “Lion of Punjab, the Son of Hindustan the Lover of Canada,  a Speaker of truth, a Fighter for justice, and the Voice of the down-trodden, underdogs, and the oppressed.” She also expressed her hope that Tarek’s legacy would be carried on by all those who knew and loved him.

Natasha had tweeted on Sunday about spending a leisurely morning with her father, Tarek Fatah while listening to classic Bollywood songs. She also mentioned that they both shared a love for India, as indicated by her choice to wear an orange outfit. In addition, they had a deep affection for Canada, which they had made their adopted home, symbolized by a touch of red.

Tarek Fatah was well-known for his progressive views on Islam and his strong opinions about Pakistan. He was a vocal supporter of the BJP-led NDA government in India.

Tarek Fatah was born in Pakistan in 1949 and immigrated to Canada in the early 1980s. He worked as a political activist, journalist, and television host in Canada and authored several books.
