2/10. Spring Temple Buddha, ChinaTallest statues in the world

Named after the Tianrui hot spring in Lushan County, the Spring Temple of Buddha reflects one of the comics of Buddhas.

It is entirely made of 1500 tons steel, 3300 tons copper, and over 100 kgs of gold with a total cost of $55 million.

To build such a giant image of Buddha, a time period of 11 years were spent.

Another unique fact about the sculpture is a small reversed swastika inscribed on his chest.

Besides the statue’s massiveness, the place is also known for having the heaviest functioning bell in the world. 

It is known as the good luck bell and is placed at the dragon head peak in the Foquan temple.

3/10. Laykyun Sekkya, Myanmartallest statues in the world

Built on the Khatakan Taung throne with a total cost of 35 million USD, this is the second tallest Buddha statue in the world.

It took almost 12 years to complete this magnificent figure and its total height including the base is 424 ft.

Laykyun Sekkya has 32 floors each having mural paintings depicting the planes of existence.

Around 12 storeys inside Laykyun Sekkya statue displays a detailed description of hell.

Resting over a 110 feet pedestal, Lord Shiva is sitting with his legs crossed and 315 ft tall Trishul in one hand.

Sendai Daikannon

Also known as Sendai Tendou Byakue Daikannon, this statue is a bit different than other Buddha statues.

However, it is associated with Buddhism and represents Bodhisattva Kannon (awakening of Buddhahood).

A special part of this figure is the wish-fulfilling jewel in her hand. It is called a Cintamani gem same as Chintamani in Hinduism.

And it’s not a single large statue, there are 108 buddha figures inside Sendai Daikannon.

Guanyin is one of the unique tallest statues in the world known for protecting the first sign in the Chinese Zodiac.

It has eleven heads, a thousand hands, and eyes that show its complex structure.

This beautiful bronze monument represents the Buddhist Bodhisattva (Avalokitesvara ) and is known for her ability to see misfortunes.

It was constructed to celebrate the completion of 500 years of Christianity in the Philippines.

The 92-meter-high monument rests in Wat Muang temple in a cross-legged pose “Calling the Earth to Witness.”

Made with concrete and painted in gold, the statue represents the Maravijaya Attitude of Buddha.
