T20 World Cup 2026 Tournament Format

India and Sri Lanka will co-host the T20 World Cup 2026. The tournament will run from February 7 to March 8, and the format will be similar to the 2024 World Cup, featuring a total of 20 teams. There will be five groups, with four teams in each group, and two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8 stage. The Super 8 teams will then be divided into groups again. From there, the top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals, followed by the final.

How the Super 8 teams will be chosen

All of Pakistan's games are scheduled to take place in either Kandy or Colombo. In terms of India's possible Super 8 and knockout games, Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Kolkata are anticipated to host their three Super 8 games if they advance from the group stage. Mumbai will host India's possible semi-final match. Depending on whether Sri Lanka or Pakistan advances from the Super 8 stage, the ICC has selected either Kolkata or Colombo for the second semifinal. The match may be moved to Colombo if Pakistan advances to the final, which is currently slated for Ahmedabad.
