T20 World Cup 2024: The first batch of Indian players who left for the United States ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 has reached New York to take part in the upcoming ICC event.
Earlier on Saturday, Indian cricketers including skipper Rohit Sharma, pacer Jasprit Bumrah, and number one T20I batsman Suryakumar Yadav left for the United States.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India shared a clip of the players arriving in the US for the upcoming T20 World Cup on its official social media handle. In the video, the Indian cricketers were seen leaving the airport in New York and boarding the team bus.
ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Format
- The 20 teams are divided into four groups, with each group having five teams.
- The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 8 round.
- The eight teams will be divided into two groups of four for the Super 8 round.
- The top two teams from each group in the Super 8 round will advance to the semi-finals.
- The winner of the semi-final will play in the grand finale for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 trophy.

IND vs PAK match
The India vs Pakistan match will begin on June 9. Later they will play tournament co-hosts USA and Canada to finish their Group A matches. India will aim to end their ICC trophy drought in this tournament, having last won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. Since then, India have reached the final of the 50-over World Cup in 2023, the semi-finals in 2015 and 2019, the ICC World Test Championship title matches in 2021 and 2023, the T20 World Cup final in 2014, the semi-finals in 2016 and 2022 but have failed to win the major ICC trophy.
India will be aiming to win their first T20 World Cup title since winning the inaugural edition of the tournament in South Africa in 2007. In the last edition held in Australia in 2022, India lost to England by 10 wickets in the semi-finals.
