Sushma Swaraj’s Birth Anniversary: From Youngest to Become Cabinet Minister to Serving as Minister of External Affairs!!

Sushma Swaraj was undoubtedly the best female leader the country could have ever witnessed. She was born on 14 February 1952 in Ambala Cant, Haryana. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Sanskrit and Political Science. Later, she studies law at Panjab University, Chandigarh. She started practicing as an advocate in the Supreme Court of India in 1973. Soon after that, she began her career as a politician after joining Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP).

Sushma Swaraj’s Achievements 

Sushma Ji was an Indian lawyer, politician, and diplomat at a time when most women didn’t get a chance to do much in their early life. At the age of 25 in 1977, she earned the title of Haryana’s youngest cabinet minister. She was also the first female Chief Minister of Delhi after she earned the title for a short duration in 1998.

Sushma Swaraj later became the Minister of External Affairs of India for the BJP government for the period 2014-19. She is the only second person to complete the 5 year-term as Minister of External Affairs after Jawaharlal Nehru. Swaraj was also called India’s “best-loved politician” by the US daily Wall Street Journal.

Sushma Swaraj Death 

She later didn’t participate in the general elections due to health issues. At that time, she was recovering from a kidney transplant and was trying to avoid going out to protect herself from infection. Sushma Swaraj ji later suffered a cardiac arrest on the night of 6 August 2019 due to which her eyes finally shut down forever. She was cremated at the Lodhi crematorium in Delhi with full state honors.
