Supreme Court Orders NEET PG 2025 to Be Held in Single Shift

NEET PG 2025

An important update has come out regarding NEET PG 2025. The Supreme Court on Friday gave an important decision regarding the NEET-PG 2025 exam. The court has directed that this exam will now be conducted in a single shift, and not in two different shifts as proposed earlier. Let us tell you that the NEET-PG exam is to be held on 15 June 2025. The matter was heard by a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice Vikram Nath, Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice NV Anjaria. The petition challenged the decision of the National Board of Examinations (NBE) to conduct the examination in two shifts.

NEET PG 2025: Emphasis on equality and transparency in examination

NEET PG 2025

The court clearly said in its order that all the candidates should get equal opportunity and this is not possible in the examinations conducted in two different shifts. Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice Anjaria remarked, “The level of difficulty of two papers can never be the same. This raises questions on fairness.” The court also said that even though the examination was conducted in two shifts due to special circumstances in the past years, now the examination authority should move towards conducting the examination in a single shift.

NBE’s Argument & SC’s Rebuttal

The National Examination Board had argued that there are not enough examination centers available across the country to conduct the examination at the same time.

On this, the court reacted sharply and said, “Given the current state of technical infrastructure and resources in the country, it cannot be accepted that enough centers cannot be available.”

Final Supreme Court Order for NEET PG 2025

The court gave a clear order to NBE that the examination should be conducted in a single shift on June 15 and proper arrangements should be ensured for this.

Also, emphasis was also laid on maintaining transparency in the entire process. The court further said that the normalisation process may be an exception due to difference in difficulty level but it is not justified to apply it as a standard every year.
