Sita Ramam Production Designer Sunil Babu Dies at 50

As per the recent updates, Sunil Babu, the production designer for Sita Ramam and Varisu, suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away. Celebrities like Dulquer Salmaan, Anjali Menon, and Prithviraj took to social media to pay their tributes.

News of Sunil Babu’s death due to cardiac arrest at a hospital on Wednesday spread shockwaves throughout the film fraternity.

Having worked on films such as Bangalore Days, Sita Ramam and the upcoming Tamil release Varisu, celebrities paid tribute to the renowned production designer on social media and sent their condolences to his family.

Dulquer Salmaan and Prithviraj Paid Tribute to the Late Sunil Babu

Sunil Babu, a former assistant of Sabu Cyril, has worked in various film industries, including Bollywood. His most recent release was the Telugu romantic drama, Sita Ramam, starring Dulquer Salmaan.

Sunil was also awarded the Kerala State Film Award for Best Art Director for his work on the film Anantabhadra (2005). He has also worked on the films Ghajini, Maharshi, Lakshya and Urumi.

Anjali Menon, a filmmaker, expressed her shock at the death of Sunil Babu by posting a tribute on Instagram.

Recalling the good times they had together in Bangalore Days, she wrote, “Rest in peace dear Sunil.” Actor Prithviraj also shared his sorrowful sentiments on Twitter, writing, “Rest in peace Sunil Etta (brother)! So many memories of working with an absolute genius.”

In a heart-wrenching post on Instagram, Dulquer Salmaan expressed his grief over the passing of Sunil Etta, writing, “Heart hurts. He had such an incredible passion for her craft, and yet she was so humble.”

Hanu Raghavapudi, the director of Sita Ramam, also expressed his sorrow on Twitter, claiming it is difficult to accept that Sunil Babu is no longer with us.

He added that this serves as yet another reminder of how unpredictable and unjust life can be. The filmmakers of Sita Ramam also released a video tribute to Sunil Babu.

Santhosh Sivan, a National Award-winning cinematographer, wrote on Facebook that Sunil Babu left a void in many lives and that he should rest in peace.
