Sukhasana Or Easy Pose With Variations: Check The Full Steps Here

Easy Pose Or Sukhasana is a basic seating posture. Unlike other yoga posture, this one is more comfortable. But those who have the habit of sitting in chairs may find a bit difficult to practice it. It is because their hips are very tight whereas those who usually sit on the floors have open hips.

Thus, they can easily practise this yoga. But others can also regularly practicing easy pose to open the hips. Besides opening the hips, it also gives you many benefits as follows.

Since you sit in a straight position without any support, your back gains strength. It also stretches your knees and ankles as well. Moreover, it strengthens your outer thigh muscles. Opens groin and hips. It also gives mental health benefits such as reducing anxiety and stress.

Who Should Not Do Easy Pose?

Unlike other poses, it does not involves much movement of arms and legs but still, some people should avoid doing it. Anyone with a knee injury should not practice it. Also, if you cannot cross your legs due to tight hips then avoid it.

Do not force your body even if the pose seems simple and easy.

Instructions For Easy Pose

Step1- Use a firm blanket on which you can practice the easy pose. Sit down on the floor with extended legs. Now, cross your legs. Remember that your back should not be in a relaxed position rather keep the back straight.

Step2- Put your hands on the knees.

Step3- Your head, spine, and neck should be in alignment. Do not keep your neck stiff.

Step4- Look straight and stay in the position for a minute. Breath in and out during it.

Step5- Now release the pose.

If you do not feel comfortable in the pose, then try variations. Here are small modifications that you can do.

Use a pillow, a block, or more blankets to keep your hips above the floor if they are too tight. It will reduce the stress on the hips. Furthermore, your spines will be in a straight position and you will get more support to stay longer in the pose.

In case, you are still unable to do the easy pose then take the help of a chair. Instead of sitting on the floor, sit on the chair. But do not cross both the legs. Cross only one leg and keep the other on the floor. When done with one side, change the leg’s position.

When you sit comfortably with a straight back, then the alignment is perfect and you will get all the benefits. While doing it, focus on your breath and it will help to keep your mind calm.
