Breaking the shackles of stereotypical racism, South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi won the Miss Universe 2019 crown!
Sadly, India’s Vartika Singh couldn’t make it to top 20.
Zozibini defeated Miss Universe Puerto Rico Madison Anderson for the Miss Universe title. Miss Universe Mexico was the second-runner up.
The South-African beauty was crowned by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
Who Is Zozibini Tunzi?
26-year-old Zozibini hails from Tsolo, South Africa. She is an activist in the fight against gender-based violence.
According to her Miss Universe bio:
“She has devoted her social media campaign to change the narrative around gender stereotypes. She is a proud advocate for natural beauty and encourages women to love themselves the way they are.”
Atlanta, the capital of Georgia hosted the 2019 Miss Universe pageant. Zozibini conquered over beauties of 90 countries to claim the title!
For the first time ever, this year each contestant was allowed to make a final statement for the audience and judges.
The final question that got the South_African beauty to take the crown home was:
“What is the most important thing you should be teaching young girls today?”

The contestants who made it to the top 5 were: Mexico, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Thailand and South Africa.
Sadly India’s Vartika Singh couldn’t make it to top 15.
