According to reports, KKR’s two-time champion team has been dealt a tough blow as their captain Shreyas Iyer is likely to sit out due to a nagging back injury.

Nitish Rana replacing Shreyas Iyer for Captaincy
In an exciting update, KKR has expressed their enthusiastic desire for the talented Shreyas Iyer to make a comeback and join the thrilling IPL 2023 edition. Being a capable leader, he has shown his value for the team but this time, it may be a bit different.
Moreover, the courageous 29-year-old Rana – a fierce leader of his state team, Delhi, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy – has a stellar record of 74 striking matches for KKR, racking up an impressive 1744 runs with a lightning-fast strike rate of 135.61.

The franchisee stated that they are counting on Rana to unleash his expertise and spearhead the team towards blistering victories.
“We feel fortunate that Nitish, with the captaincy experience having led his state side in white ball cricket and the IPL experience he has had with KKR since 2018, will do a great job,” said the franchisee.
“We are also confident that under Head Coach Chandrakant Pandit and the support staff, he will get all the support needed off the field, and the highly experienced leaders in the squad will provide all support that Nitish may need on the field,” it stated.
