After thirty years, Karan Arjun, directed by Rakesh Roshan, is set to return to theaters. Speaking out about the film’s casting ahead of its re-release, Roshan disclosed that he had wanted to include Shahrukh Khan and Ajay Devgn, but both turned him down. Shah Rukh Khan claimed not to believe the story, but it was only later that he returned to him.
Shah Rukh Khan Initially Rejected Karan-Arun
In an interview with a reporter, Rakesh Roshan revealed that Shahrukh Khan and Ajay Devgn were initially approached about the movie but later withdrew. He added, “Shahrukh had left the movie because he wanted to play Ajay’s role and vice versa. Ajay can explain why he backed out of Karan Arjun.” They both wanted to alter their respective personas. However, I stated that I wasn’t making the movie to alter their perceptions because the plot demanded that they be authentic.
Rakesh Roshan Approached Aamir For SRK’s Role
But SRK quickly changed his mind and approached Roshan directly to appear in the movie. Salman Khan and Aamir Khan had already been asked to play the leads at this point. “After they both left the movie, I brought Salman Khan and Aamir Khan along. Since I was the first to sign SRK as an actor for King Uncle, he later returned and said he wanted to collaborate with me. “Even though I don’t believe in the story, I will still work with you,” he said, adding that he had trouble sleeping at night. I am completely convinced.
SRK Suggests Kajol For His Heroine
Finally, on Shahrukh Khan’s advice, Kajol was brought on board. He disclosed, “Kajol was recommended by Shah Rukh. I asked how it was to work with her, and SRK gave her a lot of praise before I signed her.” He also mentioned that the cast made it difficult for him to find distributors. Two of my distributors pulled out when I announced the movie because it starred two romantic heroes.
Also starring Mamta Kulkarni and Rakhee Gulzar, Karan Arjun was released in January 1995. The film will be re-released in theatres on 22nd November, allowing audiences to relive its memorable journey
