See How This Two-Wheeler Ambulance Is Helping Nation Win Against Covid-19

Bengaluru: Due to lockdown, most neighborhood clinics and hospitals are closed which create problems for citizens. In this tough situation, a 46-year-old Bengaluru doctor comes up as a roving healer for thousands of people in Pulikeshinagar, Shivajinagar, and Bharatinagar. A doctor, Syed Moinuddin Shabbir, transformed his scooter into a mobile ambulance and started providing essentials like medicines and groceries to homes.

Every day the doctor visits 20 to 25 lanes and examines homes. He said,

“Most of the medicines I supply are for blood pressure and diabetes.”

He also added,

“There are diabetics with gangrene, who need a strong dose of antibiotics on a regular basis. The dressing also needs to be changed.”

Shabbir says he has been doing this work since March 25 and initially visited numerous residents in Shivajinagar.

“I was born and brought up in Shivajinagar,” he added.

The doctor borrowed the scooter from Santosh group, which he converted into an ambulance and covers at least 125 km every day. For delivering groceries, he has another two-wheeler. Also, he pays for the medicines and fuels from his pocket. He supplies the groceries, which are sponsored by organizations like Jain Youth Trust.

He also spreads awareness regarding the precautions and symptoms of Covid-19 on house visits. Also, he asked people to stay hygienic and remain indoors. To make his endeavors more impactful, the doctor roped in with Bharatinagar and Pulikeshinagar police stations. People who need medicines/groceries or any other help can contact these stations, that convey the information to Shabbir.

The doctor has delivered groceries to 10,000 families in one month. The families, include migrant workers, common people, and so on.
