Ryan Reynolds all set for action-comedy ‘Shotgun Wedding’: Actor Ryan Reynolds is heading back to the romantic comedy genre, but this time with a little twist!
As per the latest Hollywood news, the Deadpool actor is starring and producing the action-comedy film titled ‘Shotgun Wedding’.
The 42-year-old star will produce the film through his production company, Maximum Effort alongside Mandeville Films’ Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman.
Director of ‘Pitch Perfect’ is leading the project. the film is based on the original script and pitch by writer Mark Hammer, and screenwriter Liz Meriwether will join hands for the script.
The forthcoming project will reunite Reynolds with Lieberman and Hoberman, who worked together on the 2009 rom-com ‘The Proposal’ which co-starred Sandra Bullock.
As per the saying of Reynolds, “I haven’t done a romantic comedy since The Proposal but I just fell in love with ‘Shotgun Wedding‘. It’s so refreshing and surprising. I can’t wait to bring it to life with Jason, Todd, Dave and the great team at Lionsgate.”
The plot of the film revolves around a couple whose extra lavish destination wedding is hijacked by criminals. In the process of saving their families, they rediscover why they fell in love in the first place.

In his statement, Nathan Kahane, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group President said that the film will focus on ‘Reynolds’ “incredibly versatile talents”, specifying “Ryan’s trademark wit and action chops.”
‘Shotgun Wedding’ also relates to the return of Reynolds to Lionsgate, which released ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’.
Upcoming films of Reynolds include Michael Bay’s ‘6 Underground’ and his work as a voice-over artist in ‘Pokémon: Detective Pikachu.’
