Scholarship scheme for students of economically weaker sections
Scholarships are provided to meritorious students of economically weaker sections through the ‘National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme’ implemented by the Department of School Education and Literacy. This scholarship is provided so that the tendency of students to drop out of school after the primary level i.e. class eight can be stopped.
Also, they can be encouraged to complete their schooling till the higher secondary level i.e. class twelve. This scheme provides one lakh new Scholar Ship every year to those students of class 9 who pass the qualifying examination for scholarships conducted by the state governments.
The Scholar Ship is continued through renewal mode from class 9 to 12 based on the academic performance of the student.
