RRR, The Kashmir Files, Kantara Declared Eligible For Oscars 2023 Nominations

Oscars 2023 Shortlist:    The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has recently announced a list of 301 films that are eligible for Oscars, which includes four Indian films – “RRR”, “Gangubai Kathiawadi”, “The Kashmir Files” and “Kantara”.

The list of reminders includes movies that are eligible to be nominated in different categories for the Academy Awards, which will be declared on the 24th of January. However, the inclusion of the films in the list does not guarantee that they will be selected in the final list of nominees.

Pan Nalin’s “The Last Film Show” has been chosen as India’s official entry to the Oscars, accompanied by Vivek Agnihotri’s “The Kashmir Files”, the Marathi works “Me Vasantrao” and “Tujhya Sathi Kahi Hi”, R Madhavan’s “Rocketry: The Nambi Effect”, “Iravin Nizhal”, and the Kannada film “Vikrant Rona”.

 

Two documentaries, “All That Breathes” by Shaunak Sen and “The Elephant Whisperers” by Kartiki Gonsalves, are included in the list.

It was reported in December that India had made it to four Oscar shortlists for the first time ever, with “Chhello Show” included in the best international film category, “Naatu Naatu” from the blockbuster “RRR” in the music (original song) segment, “All That Breathes” in the documentary feature list, and “The Elephant Whisperers” in the documentary short section.
