Shortly after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket on Wednesday, Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir shared an emotional post on his @x (formerly Twitter) handle.

Gautam Gambhir’s Emotional Tribute to Rohit
Gambhir wrote on social media, “A master, a leader and a gem! Rohit Sharma”.
Gautam Gambhir’s post is also important because there were reports of tension between him and Rohit a few days ago. Speaking at the ABP India at 2047 Summit earlier this week, Gambhir had dismissed any tension between him and Rohit.
Gambhir said, “This is just the work of some people who are running YouTube channels, or who are sitting as ‘experts’, speaking for TRP. We have won the Champions Trophy just two months ago. Imagine if we had not won. What kind of questions would you be asking me then?.”
Rohit Sharma Retires from Test Cricket at 38
Rohit Sharma has created a sensation in the cricket world by retiring from Test cricket at the age of 38. Rohit was able to score only 122 runs in his last 2 Test series, this poor form is also being cited as a major reason for his retirement. After Virat Kohli left the captaincy, Rohit Sharma took over the command of the Indian Test team in the year 2022.
If we look at the total record of Rohit’s Test captaincy, he captained in 24 Test matches, out of which Team India won 12 times. Under Rohit, India lost 9 times and 3 matches were drawn. Captain Rohit‘s win percentage in Tests was 50.
Rohit Sharma’s Test Captaincy Record
Last year, Rohit Sharma had a poor performance in Test cricket. He was seen struggling to find his form. Overall, he scored just one half-century and an average of 10.93 in eight Test matches last season. If we talk about captaincy, he captained India in a total of 24 Test matches, in which he won 12, lost 9, while three Test matches were drawn.
