Remembering Young Martyrs Of India On National Martyrs Day

Indian Army has always shed their blood selflessly for the nation, and to honor their invaluable sacrifice, Martyrs Day is celebrated every year on 30th January.

Martyrs Day is observed every year on 30th January to mark the assassination of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. This day is commemorated by the citizens of the nation to salute the martyrdom of the brave soldiers who lost their lives preserving the sovereignty of their nation.

This Martyrs Day, let us have a look at some of the youngest martyrs of our country who lost their lives for their motherland.

  • Baji Rout

Hailing from Odisha, Baji Rout is the youngest Indian martyr who lost his life at the age of 12. He was one of the youngest freedom fighters and a boat boy who was a part of Banar Sena of Prajamandal. He was shot dead by British police on October 11, 1938, when he refused to convey them across the Brahmani River. He is remembered for his bravery and love for the country.blank    

  • Khudiram Bose

Khudiram Bose was 18 years old when he lost his life. He was an Indian freedom fighter who attempted to kill a British Judge, Magistrate Douglas Kingsford. He and Prafulla Chaki planned to throw bombs on the wagon of the judge.blank 

Although, the Magistrate was present in a different carriage and the bomb explosion resulted in the death of two British women. Before the arrest, Prafulla died by suicide. Subsequently, Khudiram was arrested and sentenced to death.

Let us all remember the great freedom fighter today for his sacrifice and patriotism.

  • Sepoy G Dalai

The 2016 Uri Attack was one of the deadliest attacks on the security forces. The attack claimed the lives of 19 soldiers. The attack also witnessed the death of 22-year-old Sepoy G Dalai of the Bihar Regiment. He was burnt alive with the other soldiers when they were asleep in the early morning.

Today, on the occasion of Martyrs Day, let us keep 2 minutes of silence in the memory of all the brave soldiers who lost their lives in the Uri Attack. 

  • Rajesh Orang

In May 2020, India and China engaged in an aggressive clash when China attempted to occupy land at multiple Indian locations. In June 2020, at Galwan Valley, 20 Army Personnel died in the clash. 

Rajesh Orang was one of them. He joined the Indian Army in 2015, during the second year of his graduation. He was just 26 years old when he was martyred fighting for his country.blank

Hats Off to the great Indian soldier who didn’t think twice before sacrificing his life for the country. 

We all owe everything to these martyrs who are real-life heroes. Our Army Personnel sacrifices everything to protect us from threats and violence. They selflessly serve their nation for its safety and sovereignty. This Martyrs Day, let us take some time to salute these Superheroes who have sacrificed their own life for giving us a better life.
