A young man on a bike was one of the mourners for the business tycoon Ratan Tata, who died on Wednesday night at the age of 86. He led the hearse on its final journey. Shantanu Naidu was less than half Tata’s age, but the two of them had a bond unlike any other. He was one of Tata’s closest aides and his trusted assistant.
Shantanu Wrote a Heartfelt Message For Ratan Tata
Shantanu wrote a touching note in memory of Ratan Tata when the news of his death broke. I will spend the rest of my life trying to fill the void that this friendship has left me. We must pay the price of love in grief. My beloved lighthouse, farewell.”
When Shantanu began working for the Tata Group in 2014, the two first met.
Love For Dogs Brought Them Closer
Shantanu, a fifth-generation Tata employee, had begun creating glow-in-the-dark collars for stray dogs to make it simpler for motorists to identify them and prevent collisions.
The animal lover decided to write a letter to Ratan Tata for Ratan Tata’s assistance because he needed money to grow his business. Tata wrote back to Shantanu within two months, surprising him by inviting him to work with him in Mumbai.
The two became close friends because they both had a passion for animals. They helped Shantanu start his business, “Motopaws.”
Shantanu Joined Tata Group After His MBA
Despite their shared projects, the two became close, but Shantanu soon had to leave for the United States to pursue his MBA. However, he promised Tata that once he graduated, he would return to India and work for him.
Shantanu kept his promise by accepting an offer to work as Ratan Tata’s assistant and becoming the Tata Trust’s manager—the youngest person ever to do so. Tata, on the other hand, went to his graduation ceremony.
Great Bond Of Friendship among Them
Shantanu revealed in a BBC profile that the two of them spent a lot of time together, going to haircuts and watching movies. Tata’s Instagram account was even set up by Shantanu, and the industrialist used it to post old photos of himself and his dogs.
Tata’s favorite television show to binge-watch was Fauda, according to Shantanu, who said that they both enjoyed action comedy films like The Lone Ranger and The Other Guys.
Naidu affectionately referred to Tata as “Millennial Dumbledore,” claiming that the 86-year-old was like the Harry Potter character in that he was wise but still young inside.
