I kept telling my grandmother that I am bored. It is hot. I want to go. Then last year after many years I saw another Kathakali performance. This time the woman present there explained it to me. It lasted for about 3 hours. It was very hot, but I did not feel the heat.
I was just watching the performance and when I came out I was thinking how strange it is. The same performance which I used to find boring, now seems interesting because after so many years someone explained it to me.
Rahul Gandhi said that I understood that this is the tradition and expression of the people of Kerala. When I was watching it for the first time, it seemed like just a dance. The second time it seemed to be about the voice, expression and history of the people of Kerala.
Each state in this country has its own expression, history, culture. Malayalam, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi – there are so many languages and traditions. Every history and culture is protected by the Constitution.
