Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif suffering from kidney stone

Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is undergoing from a kidney stone illness and a medical board will affect the method to be taken up on the jailed Pakistani leader.

Dawn quoted an official at the Services saying that the CT scan and ultrasound reports of Sharif had found a stone in his left kidney.

A medical panel would examine out the test reports and suggest appropriate medicines and further medical procedures, the official added.

On January 24, a special board had recommended the Punjab government shift the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart, who has been working seven years of a prison sentence in Kot Lakhpat jail after indictment under corruption charges, to the Services Hospital amid grounds of his worsening health.

Meanwhile, Punjab Information Minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan has stated that Sharif will be moved back to jail once his health improves.

“He is being provided with the best facilities in every way. He has also been given his favorite dishes in jail,” the minister added.

On January 28, the Islamabad High Court postponed the hearing on a bail application of Sharif on medicinal grounds till February 6. The petition was filed by Sharif’s lawyer Khawaja Harris.
