Operation Sindoor

India has avenged the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April by carrying out a precise air strike on nine terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The three armies of India launched Operation Sindoor to give a befitting reply to Pakistan after 15 days. After this action of the Indian Army, an alert has been issued on the Pakistan border. Defense units have been activated to deal with any emergency there.

India-Pakistan War Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself monitored the entire operation throughout the night. The attacks were carried out in a precise manner based on the information provided by the intelligence agencies. The three armies of India (land, air and water) together carried out this joint operation.

What is Operation Sindoor?

Operation Sindoor

After the death of innocent civilians in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India gave a befitting reply within 14 days. The Indian Air Force carried out air strikes on 9 terrorist bases in Pakistan and PoK under ‘Operation Sindoor’ on the night of 6-7 May 2025. All the pilots and soldiers involved in the attack returned safely.

Where did India attack?

Of the 9 targets targeted in the operation, 4 were inside Pakistan and 5 in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The cities in Pakistan that were attacked include Bahawalpur, Muridke and Sialkot. Loitering munitions and other precision weapon systems were used for the attacks.

Key points of Operation Sindoor:

Mock Drill

  • Jaish-e-Mohammed stronghold in Ahmedpur East, Bahawalpur targeted: Four attacks took place near Subhan Masjid in Ahmedpur East, Bahawalpur, which is considered the main hideout of Jaish-e-Mohammed and its chief Maulana Masood Azhar.
  • Terrorist hideouts targeted: Attacks were carried out at places like Bilal Masjid and Subhan Masjid in Muzaffarabad, which are said to be linked to terrorist activities. 8 terrorists have been confirmed killed in these attacks.
  • Attacks in many places including Sialkot, Kotli and Muridke: DG ISPR also confirmed attacks in areas like Sialkot, Muridke, Kotki Lohara, Shakargarh and Kotli, which caused panic in Pakistan.
  • ‘Operation Sindoor’ is not only a reply to Pakistan, but it is also a proof of India’s strategic and diplomatic capability on the international stage. This makes it clear that now India does not shy away from responding to terrorism in its own language.

The second major retaliatory action after Balakot

This operation is considered to be India’s second major retaliatory action in Pakistan after the 2019 Balakot air strike. Six years after the Balakot strike following the Pulwama attack, India has once again made its strategy clear against terrorism by giving a decisive response.

Pakistan is scared of India’s attack

There is an atmosphere of fear in Pakistan after India’s attack. Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has said that if India stops the attack, Pakistan will not take any action
