OnePlus 7T

OnePlus has declared that their OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series devices will no longer get any new updates. Rather than making an official announcement, they altered the update note for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series on their community website.

According to the company’s software update policy, the OnePlus 7 and 7T were supposed to receive two Android OS upgrades and a year of security updates. The OxygenOS 12 MP3 build is the last update that the OnePlus 7/7T series will get, as confirmed by the company

OnePlus 7T

The company announced that they will no longer be providing updates for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series. This was disclosed in a community post for a recent update (via My Smart Price).

The post reads, “As per the maintenance schedule, the MP3 build will be the last one for the OnePlus 7/7 Pro. We thank you for your support and attention to OnePlus.”

OnePlus 7T

In May 2019, the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro were released as part of the OnePlus 7 series, both of which featured OxygenOS 9 pre-installed.

In October of the same year, the OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro were released as part of the OnePlus 7T series, with OxygenOS 10 already installed. The devices have now come to the end of their support cycle with the release of the last OxygenOS 12 update.

OnePlus 7T

Last month, the DealnTech report revealed that the OxygenOS 12 update for the OnePlus 7 series had not been adequately tested and optimised, resulting in users experiencing a decrease in performance, app crashes, UI lags, and other issues.

These problems included auto brightness being unreliable, signal reception and network connectivity issues, random call disconnections, increased standby drain, decreased battery life, Gallery app crashing, and settings being reset to their default after a reboot.

These difficulties were not minor and disrupted user experience, preventing them from using the phone’s multimedia functions.
