Nike’s self-lacing Adapt BB shoes rendered useless with faulty Android app

Nike has created one of the best and coolest smart shoes but perhaps forgot to test its compatible app, leaving frustrating users.

Adapt BB by Nike are the company’s self-lacing shoes which use a compatible smartphone app called Nike Adapt to eliminate the function of self-lacing.

However, many users are reporting on the app page on Google Play that the app is not properly paired with shoes, which makes them practically unusable. One user told how to reset the shoes, uninstalling the app, even turning off Bluetooth does not help in the case.

The executive of the company responded to the user, acknowledging the issue and assuring that Nike is working towards fixing the problem.

As per the software engineer Johnathan Warner, he tweeted that the Nike apparently didn’t quality test the Android version of its Adapt app as thoroughly as the iOS version which looks like it’s working fine.

Unfortunately, all customers of the Nike Adapt BB with Android devices now remains with bricked shoes because of broken firmware update routine.

Till the company issues a fix, it is nothing more than USD 350-worth of shoes which are basic, won’t self-lace, or light-up.
