With a goal of giving tough competition to Facebook, Snapchat seems to follow the gaming arena. The social service is supposedly looking to announce its long-rumored gaming platform.

As per the latest technology news, the asserted service, named ‘Project Cognac’ will be announced for developers next month. The gaming service will feature a handful of games from outside developers designed to work inside the Snapchat app.

In addition to the new games initiative, Snapchat’s parent company Snap will also announce more original shows at its first-ever summit for content and developer partners in Los Angeles on April 4.

Snap interest in gaming was evident from the recent history of additions and achievements. Last year, it had acquired an Australian gaming studio, Prettygreat, in 8.6 million US dollars.

Reportedly, the company has acquired a web-based game engine startup named PlayCanvas.

Other than the acquisitions, Snap even launched its own lightweight AR games for the Snapchat app in early 2018.
