If you are a working person, you must read this as your salary will be severely affected from next month due to New Labour Laws. You will also have to work more hours per day but can get 3 days off. The Central Government is planning to impose these changes from July 1.

What Are New Labour Laws 2022?

Four new labour codes are made after merging 29 central labour laws of the Central Labour Act. Employees’ wages, health and working conditions, occupational safety, and industrial relations come under these codes.

This is how your salary and other benefits will get change

  1. Basic salary will be half of the CTC. This will reduce the take-home salary of employees.

2. Increased PF and Gratuity

3. Working hours will increase from 8-9 hours to 12 hours/day. However, it depends on companies whether they want to continue with old format or increase working hours.

4. Number of working days per week will cut to 4days if total working hours/day is 12. In other words, total working hours of any employee should be 48 hours and not more than it.

5. Three weekly offs if employees working hours are 12 hr/day. Those working 10 hours a day will get 2 weekly offs. No changes for employees working 8 hours per day.

6. Leave eligibility is cut to 180 days, it was 240 days earlier.

7. One day leave in every 20 days of work

8. Employees of the unorganized sectors will get advantage of health insurance schemes. Government can make provisions for this.

New labour laws will come into effect from July 1. So far, 23 States and UTs have made drafts on it and remaining states are yet to make the draft.
