Hero Motor has launched the new generation Destiny 125 scooter in the Indian market. The updated scooter has been given LED projector headlight, longer seat and new engine. The company claims that the scooter will run 59 kilometers in one liter of petrol. Apart from this, many new features have been given in Hero Destiny 125. The scooter has been introduced in three variants – VX, ZX and ZX +. Its starting price has been kept at Rs 80,450 (ex-showroom).

The second generation Hero Destiny 125 is built on the platform of Zoom Xtec and changes have also been made in its design. The scooter has a metal front fender with LED headlight and taillight. Here you will get a completely new H-shaped LED DRL and turn indicators. The design of the side panel has been completely changed.

The engine of Destiny 125 has been updated. It will get a 124.6cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, which generates 9hp of power at 7000rpm and 10.4Nm of torque at 5500rpm. Hero says that the calibration of the CVT has been changed to increase refinement and mileage. The company claims that the scooter will get a mileage of 59kmpl (ICAT certified).

Many changes have been made inside the scooter as well. The scooter now gets 12-inch wheels at both ends and the rear wheel now gets a thicker tire of size 100/80-12. This has improved the riding quality. For this, the company has sharpened the rake by more than one degree and moved the swingarm pivot point towards the top of the scooter. Due to the new wheel, the wheelbase of the Destiny 125 has increased by 57mm. The ZX and ZX+ variants get 190mm front disc brakes. This is the first time that disc brakes have been installed on the Destiny 125, while the base VX variant will get 130mm drum brakes.

  • All three variants of the scooter come with CBS, side stand engine cut-off, boot light, USB charging port and external fuel filler. For storage, the scooter has a 19-litre boot space under the seat and a 2-litre storage cubby on the front apron.
  • There is also a luggage hook on the front apron with a maximum weight capacity of 3 kg. Apart from this, a new semi-digital instrument console has been given in the scooter. It will have features like smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS alerts.
  • The base VX variant gets front drum brakes, an analogue dashboard with a small LCD inset, but misses out on Hero’s i3s fuel-saving start/stop technology.
  • The mid-spec ZX variant gets Bluetooth connectivity digital dashboard, backlit starter button, front disc brake, pillion backrest as well as auto-cancelling indicators, which Hero claims is a first in the segment.
  • The top-spec ZX+ gets all the same components, but the chrome accents are finished in bronze and the alloy wheels get a machined finish.

Talking about the price, the ex-showroom price of VX is Rs 80,450. The ex-showroom price of ZX is Rs 89,300 and the ex-showroom price of ZX+ is Rs 90,300. The new scooter will compete with the Suzuki Access 125, TVS Jupiter 125 and the Honda Activa 125 in the 125cc segment.
