On the occasion of National Voters’ Day, Chief Election Commissioner of India Rajiv Kumar noted that young voters, born around or after 2000, are an integral part of India’s future democracy, as they have started to join the electoral rolls.

The CEC explained that efforts are being made to involve young people in the voting process through different channels, particularly those in urban areas who are more likely to show indifference to voting.

Furthermore, he mentioned that the ECI is making sure that each polling station has a minimum of certain amenities, such as toilets, electricity, drinking water, and ramps, and that these facilities should be permanent to save money.

This day symbolises the ECI’s commitment to making elections more inclusive, participatory, voter-friendly, and ethical, he continued.

The 13th NVD’s (2023) slogan, “Nothing Like Voting, Vote for Sure”, encourages citizens to take pride in their civic duty.

Having been successful in conducting 17 Lok Sabha elections, 16 elections each to the office of the President and Vice President, and 399 Legislative Assembly elections, the organisation has established its reliability and trustworthiness.

This theme will help to promote good governance and create a positive impact.

The 400th assembly elections are in progress. Unlike in some other countries, election results in India are never contested or called into question.

Any individual complaints or petitions are settled by the respective High Courts.
