NASA Invites Application To Live On Mars Like Habitat, Check Eligibility Here

If you have dreamt to explore space but failed to become a part of Jeff Bezos’s space mission? Here’s another golden chance for you to become a crew member of NASA’s first human to Mars Mission. Selected individuals will live in Mars-like habitat for one year in Mars Dune Alpha.

What Is Mars Dune Alpha?

Johnson Space Centre has created a 3D model that resembles Mars. The 17,000 square foot mars like habitat will have an atmosphere and real-life challenges to test the adaptability of humans on Mars.

This will involve expected challenges like equipment failure, limitations of resources, and more. NASA is experimenting to learn and figure out possible solutions to improve the surviving ability of humans on the atmosphere outside Earth.

However, NASA has not only decided to include the astronauts but also invites ordinary people on the mission.

When Will The Mars Mission Begin?

The mission will start in September 2022 under which the crew members will undergo various stimulation tasks. During the mission, they would be doing scientific research, spacewalks, and the use of virtual reality will also be included.

It is a 3-stage mission that will be completed in 2025.

Eligibility For Mars Dune Alpha Application

Your dream to live on Mars would come true only if you fall under these eligibility requirements:

  1. Not less than 30 years or above 55
  2. Should be proficient in English
  3. Master degree holders in a STEM field are eligible or those who have completed a medical degree are also considered
  4. Should have aircraft piloting experience of minimum 1000 hour
  5. Healthy and non-smokers individuals can apply
  6. Only U.S citizens are eligible
