Naatu Naatu Wins the Best Original Song Award At Oscars 2023

Oscars 2023: Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer ‘Naatu Naatu’ song from the blockbuster movie ‘RRR’ has recently made India proud as it won the Best Original Song at the 95th edition of Academy Awards.

The Indian song left various top singers behind in the race, including Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Son Lux band.

The reports say that ‘Naatu Naatu’ was competing against some popular songs of the year, such as ‘Hold My Hand’ from ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, ‘Applause’ from ‘Tell It Like a Woman’, ‘Lift Me Up’ from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ and This Is a Life’ from ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’.

The ‘RRR’ song ‘Naatu Naatu’ has already won Best Original Song at the Critics’ Choice Awards and at the Golden Globe Awards. And now, the song has achieved one more milestone by receiving the Best Original Song award at Oscars 2023.

M.M. Keeravaani, the cousin of ‘RRR’ director S.S. Rajamouli and music composer of the ‘Naatu Naatu’ song, received the award at the event. In an honour, he said, “Thank you Academy. I grew up listening to the carpenter here I am at the Oscars. There was only one wish on my mind… So were Rajamouli’s and my family… ‘RRR’, the pride of every Indian. Thank you.”

Apart from this, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who is presting awards at Oscars 2023, introduced ‘Naatu Naatu song’ in her words.

Deepika said, “An irresistibly catchy chorus, electrifying beats and killer dance moves to match with, have made this next song a global sensation. It plays during a pivotal scene in ‘RRR’, a movie about the real-life friendship between Indian revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju and Kumaran Bheem. In addition to being sung in Telugu and illustrating the film’s anti-colonial themes, it’s also a total banger.”

She also added, “It has earned millions of views on YouTube and TikTok, has audiences dancing in movie theatres all around the world and is also the first song ever from an Indian production to be nominated for an Oscar. Do you know ‘Naatu’ because if you don’t you’re about to?”
