Singer Shakira has been called to appear in Spanish court in tax fraud case


Famous Music sensation Shakira has been called in to appear in Barcelona court on June 12 in an ongoing tax fraud case in Spain, As per Catalonia’s High Court of Justice.

The Colombian singer is imposed with neglecting to pay taxes in Spain priced at just over 14.5 million Euros for the time from 2012 to 2014, As per court documents, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

Shakira, who has been pointed out in the documents under her full name Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, is wed to Barcelona soccer star Gerard Pique, and the two as per reports live with their children in the Barcelona suburb of Esplugues de Llobregat, the location of her anticipated June court appearance.


However, as per the latest breaking news from December when the case was early made public, she alleged to have lived the most of her time outside of Spain during the 2012-2014 period.

As per local reports, the police officer claim that during this time she spent the minimal number of days per year in Spain to see fiscal residency. As such would be needed to pay taxes in Spain on revenue earned anywhere in the world.

The Hollywood Reporter called AP and said Shakira’s Spanish public relations firm estimated the singer had once settled her debts with Spanish tax laws but would indicate as required in June. She was commonly reported to have paid 20 million Euros in back taxes in Spain in February of 2019.
