Mumbai Witnessed 50% Drop In Car Registrations

Today, Mumbai has seen a fall of 50% in the registration of new cars and a 28% slip in bike purchases due to Gudi Padwa which comes on Wednesday and is acknowledged to be a holy day when people purchase vehicles.

Paresh Rawal, the public policy analyst revealed that people are not just expecting the best models of private vehicles to strike the market, but also want to sustain their plans till the going on infrastructure projects are done.

Vivek Pai, the transport expert revealed that this is a good sign of car registrations slipping and the correct time to motivate public transport. The Metro lines are lined up for next year which will be a game-changer for Mumbai. 

The government should motivate public transport and also buses and AC trains by providing low-priced tickets and happy hours,” he advised including there must be a dedicated bus lane to moreover prevent people from purchasing private vehicles.

A car dealer from Mumbai stated that the value of vehicles has also gone up newly, and this was a disincentive for some purchasers. He revealed sales have gone up in the last two years of Covid as many personal cars and bikes for “social distancing.”
