MP Weather Update: Terrible Situation in Districts Adjoining Narmada River Due to Continuous Rainfall

MP Weather Update: The condition of Madhya Pradesh is getting worse due to heavy rainfall since Sunday evening. From big rivers like Narmada, Chambal, and Betwa to small river drain, every waterbody in the state is at spate due to heavy rainfall. The water level of MP dams is also above the red mark. 

There are reports of submergence of low-lying settlements in many districts, while the capital Bhopal is also in a situation of devastation.

At the same time, the Meteorological Department has also issued an alert of heavy rain for the coming days as well. So, the collector has declared a holiday in government and private schools on Tuesday.

Increased Water Level of Narmada River

Due to the continuous rainfall in Bhopal, Narmadapuram and adjoining areas, the water level of Narmada river has increased. Nasrullaganj has lost its contact with Chhidgaon Kachi due to excessive rain. 

At the same time, more than 15 feet of water is flowing on the Kolar river bridge. But fortunately, the SDM reached the spot and controlled the situation.

Closed Bhopal-Nagpur National Highway 69

Besides capital Bhopal, many other districts like Indore, Narmadapuram, Jabalpur, Shivpuri, Chhatarpur, Shajapur, Dewas, Rewa, Katni, Satna, Chhindwara, etc are affected by heavy rains. And due to this, a lot of roads and highways have been blocked. 

Bhopal-Nagpur National Highway 69 is also very much affected and at risk of flood. 

The water level of Narmada river in Narmadapuram district has crossed the danger mark to 965. Besides it,  the water level of Tawa river has increased significantly, due to which 8610 cumec of water is being released by opening all the 13 gates of the Tawa dam.

Opened 13 Gates of Bargi Dam

As per the terrible situation in MP, 13 out of 21 gates of Bargi Dam are being opened to release 3000 cumec water. Around 89% of Bargi Dam has been filled due to intermittent rains in Mandla, Dindori and other districts for the past two days. 

In view of this, a red alert has also been issued in Narmadapuram, Harda, Narsinghpur, Dewas, Raisen, Sehore, and Barwani districts.

Raisen 168.0, Pachmarhi 140.2, Bhopal City 132.3, Bhopal 123.7, Narmadapuram 89.9, Sagar 81.0, Gwalior 76.2, Mandla 71.2, Narsinghpur 67.0, Guna 64.3, Jabalpur 61.4, Betul 59.8, Damoh 57.0, Raisen 54.0, Ujjain 39.0, Seoni 29.8, Khandwa 24.2, Umaria 22.4, Malajkhand 21.6, Chhindwara 19.6, Naogaon 19.3, Dhar 19.3, Indore 16.1, Khargone 14.0, Datia 12.2, Satna 11.0, Rewa 6.4, Khajuraho 6.0, Sidhi 2.6, Shivpuri 55.0 mm rain was recorded.
