MG Motor India has launched the Windsor EV with battery pack in the Indian market on (21 September). This is India’s first electric crossover utility vehicle (CUV). The company claims that the car will be fully charged once for 331 km.
This is the first electric car in partnership between MG and JSW. MG has introduced Windsor in three variants – Excite, Exclusive and Essence. Its starting ex-showroom price is Rs 13.49 lakh, which goes up to Rs 15.49 lakh in the top variant.
The company launched Windsor EV on September 11 with the battery rental program ‘Battery as a Service’ (BAAS) at a price of Rs 9.99 lakh. Battery cost was not included in this, under this program the company will have to pay Rs 3.5 per kilometer every month. Bookings for the EV will begin from October 3, 2024, and deliveries are expected to begin by the festive season.

The ex-showroom price of Windsor EV with battery pack starts from Rs 13.50 lakh and the price of its top variant goes up to Rs 15.50 lakh. The certified range of this electric car on single charging is 331 kilometers.
MG Windsor EV:
MG Windsor EV has come among the people in the market. The company has used a new feature in this car that this electric car of MG Motors will not be equipped with a battery, rather the cost of driving will have to be paid according to the distance covered per kilometer. You will have to pay Rs 3.5 per kilometer for the base variant of this EV.
What is Battery as a Service Program?
Battery as a Service (BAAS) is a battery rental program. Under this, the cost of the battery pack is not included in the price of purchasing an electric car. Instead, you will be charged according to battery usage.
That is, the cost of the battery will be recovered as a rental fee according to the number of kilometers you drive, where you will have to pay it as EMI every month but you will have to pay separately for charging the battery. Apart from this, the first owner of the car will be offered a lifetime warranty, 60% buyback after three years and one year free charging at public chargers using eHUB through the MG app.
MG Windsor EV Performance
The MG Windsor has an electric motor mounted on the front axle, which can generate power of 136 hp and torque of 200 Nm. With this, four driving modes are provided – Eco +, Eco, Normal and Sport. To power the electric motor, a 38kWh LFP battery pack has been provided.
The company claims that the car will run 331 kilometers once fully charged. The battery pack can be charged from 0 to 80% in 55 minutes with a 45kW charger. Along with this, the option of 3.3kW and 7.7kW AC charger will also be available. This can charge from 0 to 100% in about 14 hours and 6.5 hours respectively.
MG Windsor EV Features
The Windsor features a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8.8-inch digital display, wireless connectivity Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, rear AC vents, ventilated front seats, powered driver seat, 9-speaker Infinity sound system, wireless phone charging,Features like panoramic glass roof, 256-color adjustable ambient lighting, subwoofer in the boot, front and rear armrest have been provided. For safety, the car has been provided with features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, all four disc brakes, front and rear parking sensors, ESC and 360 degree camera.
MG Windsor Price and Variant
MG Windsor EV is a crossover utility vehicle (CUV), which will offer the comfort of a sedan and SUV. This electric car has been introduced in three variants – Excite Price 13.49 lakhs, Exclusive Price 14.49 lakhs and Essence price 15.49 lakhs.
The new ex-showroom price of Windsor EV ranges from Rs 13.50 lakh to Rs 15.50 lakh. MG Motor is offering 60 percent buyback offer on this electric car after three years and 45,000 km. The company is offering lifetime battery warranty to the first buyer. Apart from this, the facility of free charging for the first year will also be available on public chargers under MG’s eHub app.
Arrow long seats will also be available in its top model. This car has come in the market with four color options. It has been given Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige and Turquoise Green colors.
