On Friday, Meta Platforms Inc. launched its subscription service in the The Us, enabling users of Facebook and Instagram to pay for verification in a similar way to that of Elon Musk-owned Twitter.

Subscription Cost
According to a statement from Meta, the Meta Verified service will cost $11.99 per month on the web or $14.99 per month on IOS and Android. Users will receive a blue badge after getting their accounts verified using a government ID.

The service, which Meta said to be testing in February, is the most recent effort by a social media business to diversify its revenue away from advertising. It follows in the footsteps of messaging app Telegram and Snap Inc.-owned Snapchat.
After Twitter acquired by Elon Musk at $44 billion last year, Twitter launched its Blue membership service, allowing users to pay for the blue checkmark that was previously only available to verified accounts of notable people like journalists, politicians, and other public figures.
Twitter had to pause the service and reintroduce it with various coloured checks for people, companies, and governments after an increase in users impersonating brands and celebrities following Twitter Blue’s first introduction in November.
