As Century Remains Out Of Reach, Sophie Devine Hits Unbeaten 115: As per the latest cricket news, New Zealand and Adelaide Strikers’ all-rounder Sophie Devine missed out on a century despite contributing an unbeaten 115 against Hobart Hurricanes in the 4th edition of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

The 29-year-old, star batswoman who was named in the ICC ODI Team of the Year for 2018, remained unfortunately short with 99 unbeaten runs followed with 16 not out runs in an entertaining Super Over, which helped her side win over Hurricanes on Tuesday.

Devine said, “My nerves are a bit shot, to be honest. I just swung my arms and it went our way.”

Devine needed five runs in the last two balls to get off the mark, but the deep square leg fielder didn’t let her so. Her innings was compiled of 10 boundaries and four sixes, which helped Strikers post their highest total ever 189/5.

While chasing a target of 190, Hurricanes levelled the score, letting in a Super Over.

Openers of India and Hurricanes Smriti Mandhana took her side to score 12/1, but Devine came out swaying again. She only needed three balls, all of which she smashed to or over the ropes to score 16* and punched a thrilling victory.
