Martyrs Day: Mahatma Gandhi is one of the most iconic figures in Indian history. He is widely regarded as the Father of the Indian Nation and is also known as ‘Bapu‘ or ‘Mahatma‘ (Great Soul). He is best known for his non–violent approach to civil disobedience, which he referred to as Satyagraha (truth–force). Gandhi‘s legacy has endured for more than a century. Martyrs Day: The Day Mahatma Gandhi Died
In India, January 30th is celebrated as a national holiday in his honor, known as ‘Martyrs‘ Day‘. On this day in 1947, Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse, a Hindu extremist. The annual celebration of Martyrs‘ Day serves as a reminder of Gandhi‘s legacy and his contributions to India. It is a time to honor the sacrifices of all those who have given their lives in support of the cause of freedom and social justice. Bapu’s Death Mystery
Mahatma Gandhi, one of the most influential leaders of the Indian independence movement, was assassinated on January 30, 1948. His death remains shrouded in mystery to this day, as the exact circumstances of the shooting remain unknown.
Some say he was shot by Nathuram Godse, a Hindu nationalist, while others speculate he was killed in a conspiracy to end his crusade for peace and non–violence. Every year, India commemorates Gandhi‘s death on January 30, unofficially known as Martyrs‘ Day.

This day is celebrated with great enthusiasm and reverence all over India. People go to Gandhi‘s memorials and pay homage to him by offering floral tributes. Prayers, seminars, debates, lectures, workshops, and cultural programs are organized to remember and honor the great leader. People also pay tribute to the great leader by observing his ideals of truth, non-violence, and communal harmony.
