In related news, a Judicial Commission will be arriving in Prayagraj today to investigate the tragic stampede that occurred during Mauni Amavasya (January 29). The investigation will be led by Retired Judge Harsh Kumar, with a team of three members. The commission plans to interrogate officials and gather facts to compile a report, which will be submitted to the government within the next month.

Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes Government’s Response to Stampede

Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has raised concerns about the government’s handling of the stampede incident. He criticized the authorities for allegedly hiding the truth and suppressing reports on accidents. He emphasized the government’s reluctance to spend on the victims while allocating vast sums for publicity.

Mahakumbh Attendance and Bathing Update

Today marks the 19th day of Mahakumbh. By 10 AM, over 43.5 lakh people had taken a dip in the Sangam. Since January 13, a total of 29.64 crore devotees have bathed in the holy waters. The Mauni Amavasya stampede tragically resulted in the deaths of 35 to 40 individuals, with the government officially confirming 30 fatalities.

Delegates from 73 Countries to Visit Mahakumbh Tomorrow

On February 1, 116 ambassadors from 73 countries will visit Mahakumbh. A grand reception will be held at Arail Ghat, where the flag of each participating country will be hoisted. The ambassadors will then take a dip in the Sangam and visit notable sites such as Akshayvat, Saraswati Well, and the Hanuman Temple. This follows the tradition of inviting international diplomats, as seen during the 2019 Kumbh Mela
