Mahindra Thar Rocks 4×4 Launch: Mahindra & Mahindra (25 September) has launched the 4×4 variant of Thar Rocks. This is the 5-door version of the company’s most popular SUV Thar, which was launched in the Indian market on September 2 with rear wheel drive option.
Mahindra has introduced the 4-wheel-drive variant of Thar Rocks only with diesel engine. Its starting price has been kept at Rs 18.79 lakh (introductory ex-showroom, All-India). The 4 wheel drive option is not given in the petrol version.
It’s all wheel drive variants cost Rs 2 lakh more than the rear wheel drive (RWD) variants. Mahindra Thar Rocks RWD variants are priced between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 20.49 lakh. Its booking will start from 3rd October and delivery will start from 12th October.
Thar Rocks has features like new 6-slat grille, all LED lighting setup, 10.25-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seat and auto AC. For safety, the new SUV is equipped with safety features like 6 airbags as standard, TPMS and ADAS. Mahindra Thar Rocks will compete with the 5-door Force Gurkha in the segment.

Mahindra Thar Roxx 4×4: Engine and features
Talking about the engine, Thar Roxx 4×4 will get 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Its manual variant engine generates 150 bhp and 330 Nm torque. Whereas its 4×4 automatic variant generates 172 bhp and peak torque of 370 Nm. It has Mahindra’s 4XPLOR system, which provides electronic locking differential and terrain mode.
Mahindra Thar Rocks comes with CrawlSmart feature, which allows the driver to maintain a steady low speed without keeping his foot on the accelerator pedal. Apart from this, a new intelligent turn feature has been provided, which is going to be very beneficial during off-roading. This means that you will not only enjoy driving Thar Rocks but will also get safety.
Mahindra Thar Roxx 4×4:Exterior
The design of the Thar Rocks follows the same traditional boxy profile as the 3-door Thar, but with several changes. The SUV has LED headlights with C-shaped LED DRL and a new body color 6-slat grille. Some silver elements are also given on the front bumper. The fog lights and turn indicators are in the same place as on the 3 door Thar, but their design has been changed.
Talking about the side profile, here you will see two extra doors and the rear door handle has been fitted on the C-pillar. It also has 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and a footrest to accommodate the car. The Thar Rocks also has a matte roof, which has a panoramic sunroof. The company has also provided a single-pane sunroof in its lower variants.
Its taillight has been given a C-shape and a tailgate mounted spare wheel is also given at the rear. The special thing is that now a wiper has also been provided on its rear glass, which is not found in 3 door Thar. The rear window and rear door open separately as before.
Mahindra Thar Roxx 4×4:interior
The cabin of Thar Rocks is based on black and white theme. The seats get white leatherette upholstery and the dashboard gets black leatherette wrapping with contrast copper stitching. It also has a center armrest for the front Passenger.The second row has child ISOFIX anchor seats, foldable center armrest, three-point seatbelts and adjustable headrests for all passengers.
The 5 door Thar has a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a 10.25-inch infotainment system. Apart from this, features like panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, ventilated front seat, wireless phone charging and keyless entry with push button start-stop are also provided.
Mahindra Thar Roxx 4×4:Safety Feature
Safety features like 6 airbags (standard), 360 degree camera setup, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) have been provided. Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) is also provided in Thar Rocks, in which functions like lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control are available.
Booking Will Start From 3rd October
Bookings for Mahindra Thar Rocks 4×4 are going to start from 3rd October 2024. You can book this SUV online and through dealerships. Not only this, its delivery will start on October 12, the day of Dussehra. Thar Rocks has been designed keeping the family in mind. It is a 5 seater and has tremendous space.
