MahaKumbh Stampede: The government is in action after the death of 35 to 40 people in the stampede on the Sangam banks in Prayagraj Mahakumbh. At night, CM Yogi held a high level meeting with top officials. Again, experienced officers have been put on duty in Mahakumbh. IAS Ashish Goyal and Bhanu Chandra Goswami have been asked to reach Prayagraj immediately.

The 2019 Ardh Kumbh was organized by the duo of Goyal and Goswami in collaboration with Vijay Kiran. Bhanu was then DM and VC of the authority. Ashish Goyal was the then commissioner of Allahabad and in-charge of Ardh Kumbh Mela. Five more Special Secretary rank officers, who have experience, have been sent to Kumbh.

17 hours after the accident, the government accepted 30 deaths

At around 6:30 pm on Wednesday, 17 hours after the accident, the Uttar Pradesh government confirmed 30 deaths. DIG Vaibhav Krishna said- 60 people were also injured, 25 bodies were identified.

After a few minutes, CM Yogi also reacted. He looked quite emotional. He said- There have been around 30 deaths. I am very saddened by this incident. My condolences are with the families of all the deceased. He announced financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Judicial inquiry was also ordered.

Apart from this, there was a stampede in Mahakumbh on Wednesday morning also. However, the incident came to light late at night. Actually, a large number of devotees were coming to the fair area from Old GT Road. Meanwhile, a vehicle of Mahamandaleshwar was passing through Mukti Marg. During this time 2-3 women fell there. The car passed by trampling the women. After this a stampede like situation occurred. In this, 5 people died on the spot. A girl is also included among the dead.

CO Rudra Pratap said- This accident happened between 8 and 9 am on Wednesday morning. Five people were injured while backing the vehicle. He was admitted to Swaroop Rani Medical College for treatment. Where he died during treatment. The dead are being identified.

NSG took charge at Sangam

When the situation went out of control after the stampede at Sangam, NSG commandos took charge. The commandos captured the area around the jetty. Also, the security personnel who were deployed on the city streets started being sent towards Sangam. In view of the crowd at the Sangam, security personnel were also deployed.

Sarvesh Singh of the ambulance staff said – At around 1.30 pm I got information on wireless that there was a stampede at Sangam. People are getting injured, the situation is not under control. Reached the spot quickly. As soon as I received the information, I reached Sangam. We took two dead bodies and one injured, whose leg was fractured, to the hospital.

Reporter Srishti told – When I reached the hospital at around 2.30 pm, the injured were being brought there from Sangam Ghat. Many people were seriously injured. Many of them had no movement in their bodies. There was an atmosphere of chaos. Nurses and doctors were active, those who needed first aid were given first aid. Some people needed to be taken to emergency. Police force was deployed outside.

No one was allowed to go inside. The public and media were not allowed inside. I requested the police that I was also looking for my family members, then somehow I went inside. Inside I saw that as soon as the injured became somewhat normal, their beds were being treated and vacated.

Yogi’s appeal to devotees

CM Yogi appealed to the devotees at 8 am. He said- Take bath at the ghat nearest to Mother Ganga, do not try to go towards Sangam Nose. Follow the instructions of the administration. Cooperate in making arrangements. Don’t pay attention to any rumour. After the stampede, the security of Mahakumbh was further increased. Officers started monitoring Mahakumbh from helicopter. After the stampede at Mahakumbh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called an emergency meeting at his residence at 9 o’clock.

To investigate the stampede in Mahakumbh, Allahabad High Court lawyer Dr. Gajendra Singh Yadav registered the case with the State Human Rights Commission. The lawyer said- According to media reports, due to rumor there was a stampede at Sangam Nose. Some women fell on the ground and people ran over them.

PM Modi expressed grief by posting

At 12 o’clock PM Modi wrote on X- The accident that happened in Prayagraj Mahakumbh is very sad. My deepest condolences to the devotees who have lost their family members in this. Along with this, I wish speedy recovery of all the injured. The local administration is engaged in providing all possible help to the victims. In this regard, I have spoken to Chief Minister Yogi ji and I am in constant touch with the state government.

President Draupadi Murmu said- The incident of stampede in Prayagraj Mahakumbh is very sad. I express my condolences to the families of the injured devotees and pray to God that all the injured devotees get speedy recovery.

8 entry gates of Prayagraj closed

More than 9 crore people reached Prayagraj on Wednesday. Even after this, the continuous flow of people continues. In view of the huge crowd, the administration closed 8 entry points into Prayagraj.
