Maha Kumbh Stampede: Crowd Control Measures & Special Train Updates

Maha Kumbh Stampede

The effect of the stampede in Maha Kumbh is now being seen in the surrounding districts. Devotees have been stopped from Sonbhadra to Rae Bareli, Fatehpur, Chandauli so that the crowd in Prayagraj can be controlled. In Rae Bareli, orders have been given to keep schools closed in view of the traffic, while at many places passengers have been kept in the hold area. The security forces have also stopped the passengers coming from Fatehpur at the border.

A special train is being run every four minutes from Prayagraj for Maha Kumbh, which is witnessing a huge crowd of foreign devotees including those from different states. Several different routes have been made to reach the ghat for bathing. Whoever enters the ghat from whichever direction, will bathe at the ghat on the same way and return home. Separate arrangements have been made to control the crowd.

Every possible help is being given to the people, said PM Modi

Prime Minister Modi reviewed the incident while talking to CM Yogi and directed to take immediate relief measures. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda are also constantly taking stock of the situation.

How did the stampede happen in Maha Kumbh?

Maha Kumbh Stampede

The place where the stampede happened is called Sangam Nose. It is called Sangam Nose because of this shape of Sangam Nose. Yamuna, Ganga and Saraswati meet at Sangan Nose.

It is here that Yamuna and Saraswati (invisible river) come and merge with Ganga. Because of this, people consider bathing here more sacred. Sadhus and saints bathe here. Common people are also eager to take bath at this place. This was the reason for the stampede early Wednesday morning.

Although there are many ghats and banks in Prayagraj, but people consider bathing here to be the most virtuous act. And on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, a huge crowd of devotees had increased in the Sangam area. The crowd increased so much that people broke the barricades and climbed on the sleeping devotees.

Such a coincidence happened after 144 years in Maha Kumbh

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath appealed to the devotees that those who are near the ghat of Mother Ganga, should bathe there and do not try to go towards Sangam Nose. He said that all the devotees should follow the instructions of the administration, cooperate in making arrangements and do not pay attention to any rumor.

Let us tell you that this year after 144 years, a rare astronomical coincidence called ‘Triveni Yoga’ is being formed, which is further increasing the spiritual importance of this day. Till 8 am today, 3 crore devotees have taken a dip. A day before Mauni Amavasya, till 8 pm on Tuesday, 4.83 crore people took a bath, whereas before this, 3.5 crore people took a dip in the Sangam on Makar Sankranti and 1.7 crore people took a dip on Paush Purnima.
