Danish Shipping Company Maersk CEO Soren Skou Quit

Danish shipping company Maersk CEO Soren Skou is retiring from his position at the end of the year. As per the ‘planned CEO transition’ now the company’s  Chief  Financial Officer Vincent Clerc will succeed him as a CEO in January.

Soren Skou was promoted to CEO in 2016 and broke the family rule over the Danish Giant shipping company.

Soren Skou joined the company Maersk Line in 1983 as a trainee. He held various key positions in that company.

He become the CEO of A.P. Moller Maersk in 2016 after his succession see enormous growth in the shipping sector.

He sold the company’s oil and gas business and focused on transport.

Now he is passing the baton of the company to new CEO Vincent Clerc.

Vincent Clerc now joining a company at a time when shipping container freight rates (shipping container transportation charges ) are due to decreasing demand and ease of supply chain congestion.

He will also face the task of de-carbonizing a fleet. Maersk company is responsible for 0.1% of the world’s global emissions and plans to become carbon neutral in 2040.

Clerc is the best choice to carry on with Maersk’s long-term diversification strategy, which seeks to reduce up its reliance on shipping and build up its air and land-based operations.

After the shipping giant announced that Chief Executive Soren Skou was stepping down from his position at the end f the year.

Its share fell to 2.4% by mid-morning in Europe on Monday

Its share will likely to reach stability depending on how the new CEO will handle the upcoming challenges.
