Lotus To Be Printed On New Passports From Now On?

Uh.. hold on, did I read that right? Well, yeah you did and I must say if this is an attempt at “Saffronisation”, its a very lame one!

According to MEA:

“The new passports printed will have a lotus symbol on them as a part of the enhanced security features to identify fake passports.”

You’ve got to be kidding me! It’s like Yogi Ji changing names of cities ‘to minimise chances of religious-riots’

And the MEA had the audacity to justify their move by saying:

“It involves using other national symbols as well on rotation.”

Okay.
Questions:
How a damn lotus is going to identify fake passports?
If it involves using other national symbols as well on rotation, why lotus is the first to be printed? How about starting with the tiger?

Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said:

“This symbol is our national flower and is part of the enhanced security features to identify fake passports.”

Are you forgetting that apart from being the national flower Lotus is also the election symbol of BJP?
This is your idea of “election campaign”?
If it is, let me tell you it’s very distorted!
